HANDLING DOGS FOR SHOW

To me handling is a combination of knowledge, experience, trust, a great will to win, and a special feeling. To be successful in the show ring, the most important thing is to give the judge a perfect presentation of the dog you are showing.
Through knowledge of the breed’s exteriors, you can choose to front the dog’s best and most typical features. To do an exceptional job in the show ring you also need experience. Trust between dog and handler is important as it helps you through stressing situations in the show ring. Trust is also necessary between handler and dog owner; never forget you that are showing their “baby” and that it takes a lot of trust to entrust your loved ones to someone else, whether close to you or far away.

A great will to win is a given for a handler. I love my job in the ring – it is always a pleasure to show a beautiful dog; entering the final ring is a fabulous feeling. But, the most important thing for a handler is the feeling for what you do; this you cannot learn – you simply must have it. Some people do and others do not. Of course you can practice and learn to be a better handler, but in order to work professionally as a handler you need that special indescribable feeling.

I offer handling of most breeds – you are very welcome to contact me if you are interested. Together we will discuss your goals and make a plan for your dog.
